Help Please..injector washer?seal,

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

This is my first post and I have a GRUMPY wife who wants to go shopping, problem is I JUST need to replace one injector.

I have got new copper washer but get the old one off,  I am to too scared to go heavy handed so any advise will be gratefully received.

The old one looks to be made from something harder then copper and is silver in colour.

Can I just fit a second washer?   ( leave the old where it is and fit a copper one next it?)

Don't fit 2 washers.  Are you sure the old washer didn't come out with the old injector?  If there's definitely a washer in there, it needs to come out otherwise the new injector may not seal properly and you'll have to redo it.

Thanks for the reply, Tomsfocus.

I am embarrassed to say the silver washer was the seal and all 4 came out with no bother, now Getting the old seal from the injector was the next problem, I was worried that if I used too much force then I would be in deep💩, so sat there thinking about it and started lightly tapping the cover that holds the spray/ jetty thing and the whole thing came apart, result. I have worked on motorbikes for years and serviced cars, I have never seen a copper washer silver in colour with steel-like strength. Learn something new every day.

I think the copper washers are in fact 'beryllium copper'

Beryllium copper is in electronic connectors, and small springs. Beryllium Copper is exceptionally versatile and known for: High electrical and thermal conductivity and high ductility
