Ford Fiesta Mk7 Diesel: Hesitation and Jerking Issue

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I recently acquired a Ford Fiesta Mk7 1560cm³ Diesel (55KW) from 2010 and have been encountering an unusual problem with the gas response. When I'm driving at around 50 km/h either press or release the gas pedal, the car hesitates for a second and then jerks. This issue is more noticeable during city driving, where frequent acceleration and deceleration are required.

I've already had the car checked for errors or faults, but nothing has shown up in the diagnostics. Additionally, the timing belt was replaced only 10,000 km ago.

As a newcomer to diesel cars, I'm not sure if this is a common issue with the Ford Fiesta Mk7 Diesel or if there's something specific I should be looking into. I would greatly appreciate any insights, advice, or experiences from fellow Ford owners. Has anyone else faced a similar problem with their car, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

If you don't know when the fuel filter was last changed, change it

Check the glow plugs

I will do that then, I have a person which will do that but I need to get the right fuel filter. I tried to look for any numbers or brand but can't see any. Is there a way to find out what kind of filter is compatibale with my car?

I changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter. Still, the hesitation after pressing and releasing with a second delay occurs. Glow plugs are fine :/. I looked on Turbo and it seems fine and clean without any major leaks. Could it be a problem with injectors? I was thinking about using some fuel additive to try maybe "clean" the fuel system but idk if this will work. I also noticed a leak from the gearbox near the plastic box, some say it could be from the selector.

EDIT:

Since the winter is coming and temps are going down I also noticed that the RPM after starting the engine is going up and down for like 10 seconds. And then are settling at around 1k RPM

Did you eventually resolve this mate?

I did not there is still an issue. I've only had this car for a short time, so I don't know much about it. I also noticed that when I press the clutch and keep it, the RPMs stay on 1300-1500rpm for like 3 seconds and then go fast to 800 is it normal?
