Later pre-facelift Mk2 1.6 petrol 15 BHP more than earlier?

Featured Replies

Someone I know has recently bought a 2007 1.6 petrol Zetec Mk2 hatchback. That year was before the Mk2.5 facelift era.

When their registration is typed into https://cartaxcheck.co.uk/ , their car apparently has 114 BHP compared to 99 for mine.

It also has a listed top speed of 118 mph, with 112 for mine. Their listed 0-60 time is 10.8 seconds, with 11.9 for mine.

Is there any hardware difference between these two engines, or was this slight improvement done through ECU software changes?

The engines look identical from outside as far as I can tell.

EDIT: Just tried the reg in something else and apparently their car is Ti-VCT. That would explain it.

This post may as well be deleted as it is redundant.
