Focus Ecoboost Stalling/not restarting

Featured Replies

Just after some advice if possible.

Took my 1.0ltr ecoboost for a full service (56k miles) this morning. Guys at the garage tried to tell me I needed new suspension, top mounts, discs and pads as a matter of urgency which they wanted to do there and then for £500. I politely declined which I could tell  annoyed the guys at the servicing place. (just had the car checked at my mot centre who confirmed none of this needed doing, and none of these issues were noted on the service report as advisories making me very suspicious)

I've driven around 20 miles in it since getting it back and all of a sudden when slowing down approaching a roundabout, the car just completely cut out. The message on the dash said manual restart required. I tried to turn the engine back on and nothing at all. Lights came on the dash as normal and it sounded like it was trying to tick over but just wouldn't start.

A friend suggested getting out, locking the car for 30 seconds then getting back in and trying again which miraculously worked however I'm now wondering why on earth it would start stalling when it's never had any issues up until this mornings service.

Coincidence maybe?

Does anyone have any recommendations on things to check, as I'm almost too worried to take it out for fear of not getting it going again.

Thanks in advance

Battery charge is probably low while they had doors open and ignition on etc.  Hopefully it'll be alright now but worth checking battery voltage after it's been left overnight.

I agree. If while the car was being serviced they did not have it connected to a battery maintainer then it will have run the state of charge down.

Put the battery on charge overnight. Remember to connect the negative lead to the chassis ground point, otherwise the BMS will not know the battery has been recharged.

Yep, charge the battery
