ScottM79
Hi guys, need some help with a really annoying issue I'm getting with Apple CarPlay at the moment. The issue is that when I plug my phone in via the USB, wait a couple of seconds then CarPlay comes on but then instantly switches back to the Sync 3.0 homescreen, then after a couple of seconds it does the same thing and this just keeps happening until i unlug the phone. I've deleted my phone off of the carplay setting in the Sync 3.0 menu and reconnected but that doesnt make a difference, I've tried different cables which hasn't helped either. Also on a side not I've noticed that when i swith the car off and then come back, the radio has changed from DAB to AM or FM, only does this sometimes. Could there be an issue with the Sync 3 software? Has anyone else experienced this annoying issue Thanks in advance, Scott
unofix
Are you using a genuine mega expensive Apple iPhone connecting cable ? If not you need to get one 👍
alexp999
I use a 3rd party cable, it doesn't have to be a genuine apple one, but it does still need to be good quality. Carplay and Android auto don't like cheap cables. They are streaming the display over USB, it needs to be a good signal. If you already have a genuine cable it's a good one to try to rule out problems, but it too could be old and worn causing a poor signal, so you may still need to try a new good quality cable. tazzman600
Hi Scott. Excuse my ignorance. Apple Carplay. Does it need to be connected to your phone by a cable or can it be connected over the air i.e bluetooth? My only experience with this new fangled technology lol is Android Auto. I've only used it in a Mercedes van. I found i had to have the WiFi and mobile data turned on my phone and then connection became automatic. No cable. So does Carplay work the same i wonder? On Sync 3 it is wired only. But it still connects via bluetooth. USB is used for the video and audio feed. Have you got another USB port in your car you can try OP?
