How much to repair wall scrape?

Featured Replies

I've just done a slow 3 point turn and didn't see the small loose stone wall and hit it 😢

What do you reckon it will cost for me to get this repaired? It's Desert Island Blue Focus. I have no idea so a rough estimate would mean i dont get ripped off anywhere. Gutted!

To do it properly is probably going to be around £300-£400.

That's sanding the whole area, cleaning the scuffs, adding filler to level, sanding filler back to a sharp body line, then priming and painting.

The matt black textured plastic can't really be repaired.  So that either needs to be completely replaced, or that area sanded flat, re-textured using dots of filler (very time consuming) and then the whole part painted with a flexible paint.

Overall...it's probably best to just leave it or make a half ars*d attempt with some touch up paint just to make it less obvious.

Cost about £600 for my rear bumper to be repaired and re sprayed (including the black trim part) if you can get away with just the blue parts it should be less. They have to do the whole bumper if it’s a proper job.

As a middle ground option to a perfect repair or a quick bodge job by yourself You could get a smart repairer to come out and do that for under £150, it’ll be close to perfect but not quite for that price. If the smart repairer is any good (check the reviews/feedback) Most people wouldn’t notice anything wrong looking at your car after it’s been done.

Thanks everyone for your responses and ouch on the estimates. Expensive mistake. Didn't even see the low wall and beepers never saved me.

I was only looking at Chipex a few days ago and was going to get some to try for a few large stone chips on car. Guessing that it would look terrible.if I tried it on something this big!?

At lease the bumper is plastic and won't rust whilst I decide what's best. If only I hadn't been so tight and paid the £50 in taxis. Oh well. Thanks everyone do far for your advice 👍

You could get some touch up paint and fill it in then wet sand it flat with some 1500 grit sandpaper and polish it up afterwards. After that It wouldn’t be that noticeable where it is unless you’re looking straight at it. If someone walked past your car and glanced at it they probably wouldn’t notice anything.

My neighbour reversed into my bumper while parked outside my house. Got a quote from Chipsaway and its £170 + VAT for repair

Unfortunately the trim can't be repaired and needs to be replaced at a cost of £186 for parts. Bumper has to come off for that, so it's just under £500 all in. Neighbour was happy to pay instead of going through insurance as her excess was higher.

On a positive note, it's easy and cheap to repair a small loose stone wall! 🤣🤣
