One tail lamp not working - bulb okay

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, first post on the forum so I’m hoping someone can help!

One of my tail lamps isn’t working, the bulb is okay and I’ve checked power to the module and there doesn’t seem to be any. The other side is fine with means the fuse is okay (I believe they’re on the same circuit).

I think there must be something wrong with the computer which sends the power, or a loose connection somewhere. Has anyone come across this before or knows of a solution?

I’ve got an MOT due this week so I’m hoping to get it sorted before then. I’m considering tapping into the feed for the other side (which is working) to power both. I’ve done similar things in the past for reversing cameras and parking sensors etc, I would assume the circuit can handle the load of an extra bulb.

any help greatly appreciated.

thanks

There is a common problem with the Lamp Holders on the rear lights.

The ground tab in the lamp holder is not protruding far enough out and is not making contact with the side of the bulb.

It just needs eased out a few millimeters with a small screwdriver.
