Fiesta exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of a better sounding exhaust for my fiesta st line 2018, however I don't want to buy a full new kit, are there any other slightly cheaper alternatives?

Thanks

You might like a better sounding exhaust at first,
but a year on you'll be fed up with the noise.

get a hornet back box if you can and leave the resonator on the car...https://www.hornetexhausts.co.uk/ if you get the straight through or the one with the resonator the drone is insane.. (it was on my 1.6ti vct zetec s)

Will it pass the MOT though?

Depends on the testers hearing, Bob, and whether or not the cat is still in.

Mine passes it's MOT, with the cat in place.  I preferred the Miltek exhaust the was fitted, but, that snapped at the silencer. 🙄

Yes, surprisingly the MOT inspection manual doesn't specify a figure, just seems to rely on the testers earhole:

8.1. Noise, Hide

8.1.1. Noise suppression system

You must inspect:

  • exhaust silencers
  • under-bonnet noise deadening material fitted as original equipment - you do not need to inspect this for Class 3 vehicles

You must use your judgement to assess exhaust noise:

  • during the emissions test for the vehicle
  • rev the engine to around 2,500rpm or half the maximum engine speed if this is lower on vehicles not subject to an emissions test

Exhaust noise from the vehicle must not be unreasonably above the noise level you’d expect from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition.

I must be the odd one out.   I'd pay to have my car quieter.

My Impreza was noise tested at Elvington recording 102db.  That was with the bung in the exhaust to keep the noise down. 😂  It was tested 1m away from exhaust tip, at a 45deg angle with ¾ max rpm.
