Battery replacement fixed clutch??

Featured Replies

I bought my 016 ford focus 1.5 tdci about 4 weeks ago. Within those 4 weeks my car has been back to the garage twice due to the clutch sticking to the floor and having to bring it back up yourself .

The first time they " fixed it" it got much worse, getting stuck nearly every gear change ,  so I took it back again .

The same time as this I realised my car battery was on its last legs , so I'd shortly need a new battery too .

Got my car back again after being fixed and my clutch was stuck on the floor before I even drove it away . Then was getting stuck again driving it home . I thought I'd leave it over the weekend to see if it improved .

By this point my battery was dead dead , so I replaced it over the weekend and straight away my clutch was spot on , best clutch I've had in a car 😂...

I've had the new battery in for 3 days now and not once have I had an issue with the clutch , and I do drive alot through the day .. can someone explain how ? .. so is the clutch connected to the battery in some way? Or was it some very strange coincidence??

everyone I talk to about it is just as super confused as to how that's worked as me

Poltergeist 🤣

Hi Rebecca. A battery on its last legs in a car will throw up all sorts of errors. Anything electrical and electromechanical.

If you get a chance. Disconnect your battery and after half an hour press the clutch in and see what happens. If it sticks then there's an electromechanical system within the clutch system which fails. If the pedal doesn't stick then its coincidence.
