Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI No Power on Acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Wondering if you can help me,

I recently changed my Turbo on my 1.6 2011 (2010) MK2 ford Focus.

Since this has happened I have lost all power on Acceleration.

When I first had it changed I had the error code P0299. I checked for any leaks and saw my air intake hose was split and changed it.

Acceleration was there for a day or two and then disappeared and car is very slugfest though all rev ranges.

1. No error codes on car, full scan done with Forescan.

2. Changed MAF & MAP & Boast sensor

3. Blanked EGR

4. Checked for leaks and nothing at all.

5. Changed Fuel Filter.

6. Recent Service and oil change done etc.

7. DPF regen done using Forescan

Any suggestions would be great to go from here.

Adam

Have you checked your throttle pedal and position sensor?

Is the new turbo brand new or from yard/refurbished?

I don't know how Forscan works, but I use the App "Car Scanner" with an ELM bluetooth reader and record all my driving cycles with it. I can afterwards check how all the sensors performed (it needs a bit of setting up beforehand as not all sensors will be recording data unless you have it on screen or you manually set it to "record at all times" on the sensor settings). I can even export to CSV or EXCEL file to be able to read all the data and create graphics to find out where the issue is.

It's worth have something like this as you are able to check what changed once you start to have troubles.

Agreed, sounds like turbo isn't working

Thanks Both, turbo is a new one.

rev arrow is all over the place and seems boost doesn’t kick in till high revs.

going to buy a cheap elm reader and do some data logging.

I’ll take out the throttle ped and test it!

maybe it needs to be configured? I don't have any knowledge on the variable geometry turbos but I guess it could require that the vanes be adjusted so it produces boost the way it should. just spitballing this idea (like I said i don't know much about VGTs 😛) but it could be a possibility? Hope you find the issue soon, because I have a similar issue and I know how annoying it is!
