Thoughts on dpf static regen?

Featured Replies

Hi guys what are you thoughts on static regens? 2012 1.6  focus econetic

Car went into limp mode as it was thinking the dpf was full due to faulty vaporiser.

New vaporiser has been fitted, but all I've got to trigger a regen is an older autel machine, only option its giving me is static regeneration.

Will this hurt my car in any way ... what could go wrong?

Set yourself up on FORScan with the V-Linker or OBDLink EX cable and run static regen

Car must be completely warm (driven for 20 minutes) and the battery fully charged

I've run a few static regens without a problem.  Never driven the car first, just let it idle while setting up the software etc.

Never seen a vaporiser on a 1.6 TDCI though, that must have been specific to the Econetic version.

The only real issue with a static regen is the heat produced in the engine bay.  The rad fan will run at full speed but I still prefer to keep the bonnet open as well, and ideally do it on a cool day if possible.  (And not parked over anything flammable like dry grass)

The other issue is the noise...your neighbours may not appreciate 20 minutes of 3000rpm first thing in the morning.
