Sunak Pro Car

Featured Replies

So Sunak is all for the motorist with his new policies.

Government will review the guidance on 20mph zones, to prevent the blanket use of the speed limit where “it is not appropriate”.       Don't fret everywhere will be "appropriate"

He accused local councils of using traffic offences to boost their budgets with “over zealous” enforcement of parking and yellow-box junctions.   So is he encouraging people to break the law, personally I believe fines for going 140 down an A road is just the police trying to boost budgets.

While we're at it, let scrap the need to stop at pelican crossing, traffic light are just a pain and why should we be forced to wear a seatbelt .

You'd have to be a fool to believe this anything more than desperate bit of waffle to deflect from the real problems he's caused.

Reading the title, I thought this was yet another OBD adapter!

Substitute "politicians" for "he's" and I'd fully agree. Most of us are old enough to be aware that at this point into a parliament all parties are desperately scrabbling for anything they think will get votes.

I'd prefer an honest statement from any of them as to what they actually believe in, and if it is in line with my own values, I might even consider voting for them.

As to yellow box junctions etc, I can indeed think of examples where it is virtually impossible to avoid "offending". Speeding is always a moot point. I've commented on other threads that I attended a speed awareness course some time ago. I stayed behind for a coffee and a chat with the excellent instructors (both ex-traffic officers) and even they were of the opinion that the system is almost designed to trap even the most careful driver.

When I started driving, it was 30 in built up areas, 70 everywhere else, which was clear and easy to follow. Nowadays we have 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 often on an apparently random basis and around where I live numerous signs are either buried in vegetation or so weathered they can't be read by eye or TSR camera.

So possibly Sunak does have a bit of a point, but perhaps for the wrong reasons.

From what I've seen of late I'm of the thinking that Mr Sunak has taken a chill pill. There's something different about him lately.

Blimey the number of threads about speeding and traffic lights and yellow boxes that I've been involved in here and in the other mondeo based Ford forum and indeed the best Lexus owners forum is a  crazy amount.

It's quite amazing how an innocent one line comment can then command a huge thread there after.

Take out the 'almost' and you'd be spot on!

I was quoting the opinion of the SAC instructors there (or at least what they were prepared to say in public).
