Intermittent engine management light 2016 1L Eco-boost

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2016 1L eco-boost with 28600 miles. Last year I got an engine management fault when driving home for a day out. I took the car in to the local garage and got O2 sensor voltage fault. They changed the sensor and everything was ok for about a month. The engine management light came back on again whilst driving to work. Took the car back to the garage, where they reset the fault. Again the all was well for about a month, then the management light came back on again whilst driving to work, but this time it went off after a few days. This went on for a few months, then management light stayed on. Took the car back to garage, where they reset the fault. It lasted 2 days. They then changed the sensor again.

Again all was well for few months, then hey presto the management light is back on it whilst driving. All the same symptoms as before.

As of last week the management light has stayed on.

Sorry for the long yarn.

Hope someone can help.

TIA

I assume that you are not a 'hands on' DIY mechanic since you have been using a garage each time this fault has occurred.

My first suggestion would be to get the car booked in at a Ford Main Dealer and get them to do some diagnostic work using Ford equipment. Yes they do charge an extortionate amount, probably one or two hours labour, but it may well be the difference between cost effective repair, or the total loss of the engine.

Alternatively you could use FORScan and a vLinker cable and do some diagnostic investigations of your own.

Did you get anywhere with this engine management light issue as mine has started doing the same thing

Yes got it fixed by the dealer. They changed the Co2 sensor, which had been changed twice by an independent garage. That fix lasted 2 weeks. They had it back and they reset the engine management module.

Been ok so far that was in December.

Yet another one needing a PCM update because of dodgy lambda readings...  Something odd going on here. 🤔
