Immobiliser issue 2005 transit connect

Featured Replies

Hey guys freshly brand new here ,was hoping to get some advice ,just bought a ford connect 2005 driving brilliant since I got it until Tuesday there so was driving to get some droplinks came back home turned it off got some tools then went to start it so I could position it better and all of a sudden the immobiliser has activated ,way out of my knowledge so rang a few people said they were coming out then just didn't show up basically been searching the Web to try fix it myself ,also I did ring breakdown cover just to see what the codes would say and it's code B2139, so the module in the steering isn't matching the keys I'm assuming that's the black ring around the ignition then? The key I got when I bought it was so smooth it looked like a blank key surprised it even worked ,I went and got a new get done and with a fob they programmed it all up this was around the time I bought the van and was perfect,so if I replaced the black ring is it as simple as that would the new one read the key? Online it says its basically an aerial for the signal or would it need to be reprogrammed to suit my keys ? Iv checked wires for anything loose can't seem to see any and checked fuses ,just add once I turned it off got out lifted the tool bag then back into the van was literally 30 seconds of it being turned off just really random it happened that quick and sudden ,it cranks over I'm assuming it's immobilised the fuel pump,my apologies if I made a wrong post at my wits end and wanted to ask people who would actually give me proper help

I doubt it's the pick-up ring.  As you say, that's only an antenna to pick up the signal, it's not programmed itself.  It is cheap and easy to swap if you want to rule it out though.

I take it both keys cause the same fault?  So we can rule out the new key chip being the issue.

I'd be looking for damaged wiring or signs of water ingress around the PCM & fuel pump next.
