2017 - Titanium New Owner Issues

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I've just had the car less than a week, I had a 2005 but her time as come and gone to the scrapyard.

So, I went for a 2017 Focus Titanium Auto Powershift with a 1.0 Ecoboost. I read up all about these and thought I'd take on the risk, I'm sure I should have ran a mile and tried to get a 2016 1.6 Zetec.

I have found myself with two issues, that I don't think are engine related.

Number 1

On the 2 hour drive back home after picking it up, at the second to last set of traffic lights before home the Start Stop kicked in, but it killed the power to EVERYTHING. - Could not use the hazard lights.

Long story short, I was blocking the only active lane on an A road while trying to figure out how to start the car.

I put it in Park to try and start it, but nothing. - This locked the box in Park - I've since looked up where the release tab is (under the bezel), if it happens again.

After the team working on the road opened the lane next to me I was able to look under the bonnet , as I was trying to pry off the battery cover it made the headlights come on and I was able to start the car and drive off.

It was not a loose battery connector and the fact it started up again I wondered if I knocked the fuse box when getting at the battery and I might have a loose fuse, but they all seem fine.

This has not happened since, but I leads to issue 2.

Number 2

If the Stop Start does kick in, there is a 1 in 10 chance that the engine will stall when coming back to life.

I still have power not like the above, the dash is lit up with the Oil/Engine/Battery lights on. Restarting the engine will bring it back to life.

It's not as bad as the above, but as soon as it happens for that split second I fear I have lost it all again.

I've not had a lot of time to spend looking into the issue and I was just after some key points that I should focus on.

Other than that, the car is fine with no other issues. I know I can turn the Start Stop off, which I am doing for now. I just want to get to the bottom of the issue.

It happening on the day I got the car is giving me real trust issues with it.

I work in IT, but I do have an old '71 Mustang I tinker with when I have the time. So I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty, its just this issue is way more advanced than I'm used to.

Any pointers are greatly received, thanks for reading
