Focus mk1 optional boot switch install?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Im new here and I own an ford 1.4 zetec 2003.

I couldnt find any search on google, except one or two, but no information whatsoever about the boot switch button install.

The wiring is there, It has the voltage on it (dashboard), the rear boot lock is the complete unit with harness connected to it (I've double checked that its not rear wiper).

I've tried shorting with a piece of wire (dashboard), but i dont hear pop nor motor. No voltage on the harness (boot lock mechanism).

As i've read the best thing is to find the compatible GEM unit with I think its called GHIA (Since 1.4 were underpowered for that).

I dont know if car electrician can unlock it via OBD.

Other thing that comes to my mind is to use a piece of wire and send 12v to open the boot, but that means whole left side where harness goes i have to remove or splice it before and re-wire.

It is really anoying turning car off and opening the boot, carrying 2 keys its kinda no go , since "People" can break in and steal the car and drive away.
