New member, guidance needed please

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a 2008  1242 cc Petrol ford fiesta, recently ive noticed that the fuel gauge sometimes reads zero, even though there is fuel in the tank, when this is the case the car will crank but not start.

When I get this situation I have found that if I lock and unlock the doors (odd I know) that the fuel gauge then starts to register, and the car will then fire up no problem,

So, my question is, what could be causing this? is the fuel gauge malfunction and the door locking and unlocking linked, or just coincidence etc.

Anybody able to offer some guidance here ?

Cheers

Could be battery on the way out

Hi all, thought I would post up the resolution,

The culprit was........ the ignition switch, seems it was sporadic in making full contact in all the right areas inside the switch itself, The actually showed up when I had the car codes read.

Hopefully this may help somebody else in the future.

All the best.
