Ford focus mk3 won't start

Featured Replies

Hello

My ford focus mk3 has an intermittent fault. Every now and again the car won't start. Won't jump start won't bump start.

Had to get the car recovered twice. But both time the car fired up first try as soon as it came of the recovery truck

I've had the car looked at. The battery is fine had new starter motor put on last week. But now it won't start again.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Which engine?  Tank fuel pump is probably dying if petrol.

Should also pint out that. The car doesn't try to start. Doesn't turn doesn't click. It's like the car is dead. But all the lights come on. Just won't even try to start

Try a new battery

We can rule out the tank pump then!

I assume you don't get any immobiliser warnings?  Is it key start or push button?

Key start. No warning lights on dash.

Not sure how to check if it's the immobilizer

With key start you'd see the immobiliser light flashing on the dashboard if that wasn't disarming.  So sounds like it's not that either.

Given that it doesn't bump or jump, and you've had a new battery & starter, it could be an ECU fault.

If you can get Forscan on it, that would be the most effective next step.

A mate managed to get it started. Looks like it's a bad earth.
