parsj022
Hi all, A Focus Mk3 2012 1.6 Petrol was brought in with a no crank no start. I scanned the car for codes and found a few Lost Comms codes and 2-3 P codes. Upon clearing fault memory the car fired right up and lasted a few days then the same thing happened. I cleared the code and started fine. One code that is persistent U0131:00-2F - Lost Comms with Power Steering Control Module 'A Hooked up FORScan and PSCM is not listed as a module (no comms) and BCM stores this. ===BCMii DTC U0131:00-2F=== Code: U0131 - Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module 'A' Status (-2F): - DTC Present at Time of Request - Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC Module: Body Control Module Freeze Frame #1: -EVENT_TIME: 356742186 s (Tue Oct 10 12:52:40 2023) - Event time -TOTAL_DISTANCE: 61415 km - Total Distance -MODULE_VOLTAGE: 11.8 V - Control Module Voltage -INCAR_TEMPERATURE: 126 °C - In car temperature ===END BCMii DTC U0131:00-2F=== I am trying to be carful not to look down the wrong path and waste alot of time, so my guesses are. 1. PSCM Module fault ( could be interfering with CAN ) 2. CAN Issue somewhere else (Maybe engine bay fuse box connector - connects CAN to ECU then TCM) 3. Issue with Alternator / Grillie Actuator ( Thats on ICAN though ?? ) 4. Bad Grounds? Thought, Suggestions ?
DaveT70
Early MK3s had issues with water ingress into the BCM from the washer jets/hoses. Check for water damage
