Mount LED light ramp - can I drill in the bumper?

Featured Replies

Hello! I would like to boost my front lights by mounting a LED ramp. I plan to use a LED ramp holder that I fit behind the number plate.

But I believe that I wll need some additional attaching points (other than the 2 holding the number plate) to make fit firmly.

BUT I have no clue what is hiding inside the bumper behind the number plate. Can I drill more holes? Any insights/experience  is highly appreciated.

I'm guessing no one here has done the mod you are suggesting. The only thing I can see is that the LED bar will be relatively lightweight, so it shouldn't really be a hindrance for that bracket to be mounted behind the number plate. I would suggest a few more bolts other than the 2 x standard number plate ones. The plus side is that if it does all go ***** up, any holes drilled will be hidden behind the plate so cosmetically, even a 'disaster' should be OK!

Just make sure your local light regs allow whatever way you intend to wire the lights in to your car. I'm an old man now, but the boy racer in me thoroughly approves of your ambition 🤣
