Gear Shifter

Featured Replies

Hi, guys!

I am new to the world of Ford cars, however, I've come about a nice little Ford Fiesta 1.6 tdci which I'm thinking of purchasing.

Before doing that I wanted to get your opinion on something that keeps bugging me. I went to test drive and I noticed that when I put it in 1st gear, the gear shifter asjusted itself slightly (sort of popped) to the right, but the car was still in gear. Is this something expected, or am I looking at a costly fix?

Your feedback and replies are much welcome.

Hi,

Sounds like it wasn't fully in gear to start with.  At that point, it can either get pulled further in (as in your case) or pop back out of gear when you lift the clutch or accelerate.  It can be a sign of a worn clutch.

Having said that, the IB5 gearbox has always been a bit 'sloppy', so there is some movement in the gearstick when a gear is selected on these.

my 1.6ti vct jumps out of reverse some times..i usually put it in then take it out and put it in again or put it in first then reverse...common problem
