1.6tdci C1750 (possible causes + fix?)

Featured Replies

Hello all, hope you're doing alright!

I was fooling around in FORScan earlier and happened to come across the DTC C1750. What does it exactly mean and how can one go about fixing this code? I have been having some acceleration issues for the past months but no DTC would come up. This is driving me up the wall and I wish I could pin-point exactly where but like I said NO DTC APPARENT as of yet, with C1750 only appearing today! Could this be the answer to my problems, or do I need to keep searching?? many thanks for everyone's time reading this and hope this might help someone else too!

Fault Code c1750 Accelerator Position Sensor Out of Range.

That could well be your problem then, have a good check of the wiring as well though. You can read the pid’s for this with FORScan.

thanks for the replies, I will look into this. my car has been intermittently cutting on power, as noted by loss in boost pressure by my mechanic on a previous visit. I guess it could be happening because of a faulty sensor (maybe?). Who knows 🙄

Most likely a poor wiring connection somewhere.

You can try a replacement pedal to rule out the obvious if you like.

Update:

So, I took the accellerator pedal off the mounting brackets (it was not nessecary at all, I just wanted to have a better view of the connector) and took off the sensor socket. After giving the connector the beans with contact spray, I let it dry a bit and then reconnected and remounted the pedal and cleared the C1750-20 code using FORScan. I will take the car for a ride soon to see if the code reoccurs and if my intermittent loss of accelleration problems are fixed. Thanks again for the help!

2nd Update:

It seems that despite cleaning the accellerator pedal and the DTC not reoccuring, the intermittent loss in power is still there. Unfortunately I cannot think of anything else that might be causing this. I've checked all the boost pipes and hoses and there doesn't seems to be problem, but there is a drop in boost pressure whenever the car does not want to output full power. Maybe it is the DPF, but I mostly do out of city driving, where car has plenty of opportunities to clean out the soot that might get deposited in the filter. The only thing that could point to the DPF is the fact that there is steady back-pressure of 12 kPa and it does not change no matter how I drive the car. I'm stumped! 😕

It is more likely to be something wrong with the Sensor arrangement or PCM or Wiring than the DPF.

12 Kpa is high, it should be between 0 and maybe no more than 0.5 at Idle and more importantly rise as the Engine speed and Load rise, it should never show the same pressure under all conditions.

Generally with a lot of cars if it reaches 15 Kpa then a Check Engine light will come on or the car may go into Limp Mode or both.

Dodgy cluster solders can cause accelerator issues, the throttle signal goes through the cluster

Thank you Tizer and Dave for the info. These solve some questions I've had in my mind.
