Battery Light 08 fiesta

Featured Replies

Hello all,

i have an 08 fiesta ghia tdci that i use as a little run around. About 30 seconds after starting the car, the battery light illuminates. This has been like this for a few months now and has never caused any issues. i have had the battery and connections checked by a garage and they could not find any problems with either.

When starting the car over the last couple of days when the car is iced over, i immediately pressed the heated screen buttons for both front and rear screens. The lights on both button illuminated as if they were working.

around 30 seconds later, when the battery light illuminates, the rear screen button stays illuminated and works correctly, however the heated windscreen button light cuts out and stops working. obviously this is a bit of a pain on icy mornings.

The battery illumination happens every time i start the car, but im trying to work out why it stops the heated windscreen from working when other things operate fine?

are the 2 linked?

could this be fuses?

any help would be appreciated.

The battery light tells you there is a charging issue.

Take it to a garage who know what they are doing and have the alternator checked properly

ive had the battery and alternator checked by a trusted garage who i have used for years. The car starts without any issues and has never once struggled to start because of a flat battery.

....and they have a very good mechanic.

Trouble is you need an auto-electrician and some proper Ford diagnostic equipment or the full version of FORScan on a windows laptop.

In short you know there is a problem, and your regular garage can't sort the issue so you need someone who can find the fault.
