Exterior seals/rubbers (tyre) around doors focus mk3

Featured Replies

Good day.

Recently the rear door's door exterior seal fallen off. So  after cleaning the surface strong black silicone was applied. It seems it worked.

Also did this two years ago on the driver's door. It is fine.

The only issue is about the parcel shelf's clip that falls off. Put it many times using screwdriver. Now it seems steady.

Many parts break or fall off after the fourth year.

if you mean seals/rubbers then yes a common ford issue

Indeed. Thank you.

But putting carefully strong black silicone-adhesive after cleaning seems to work. Nice and steady.

This will throw a spanner in the works.

It took me a few weeks to notice that the passenger side front door seal was totally missing. Got one from ebay. There was a glue type residue around the door which I attempted to remove. No chance without damaging. The new seal came with its own sticky tape. Krap. I used a 3M super strong double sided tape. The seal is now on there fir the life of the vehicle.

What I'm saying is. No need to go overboard cleaning. Just use a ruddy good double sided tape.

The side on which the seal was attached to the door should be cleaned not the seal itself.

That would be a solution also.

Bol. It's the actual door area I was on about cleaning not the seal itself.

I had to replace the badges on my tailgate and used VHB 3M tape, drop a nuke on it and they'll still be there, its serious tape.

I also used it when i fitted Heko wind deflectors, theyre going nowhere.

To get glue residue off, I've found Sticky Stuff Remover to be very effective

Also with alcohol (or water sometimes) it can be cleaned.

I'd rather drink the alcohol. Using it to clean stuff is a waste 😂
