Windscreen wipers stopping upright or at angle

My 1.6 2009 ford focus windscreen wipers started stopping upright or at an angle on normal and medium wiping (not an automatic and does not have a rain sensor) the wipers work fine on the high speed setting. Any advice on what I can do to rectify this?

    The wiper motor 'self park' switch is broken. I've not taken apart the wiper motor on your model before but I expect it to be similar to most and that a contact inside the motor maintains power to the motor while the wipers are not in the 'home' position.

    Only real option is to replace the motor as they are not intended to be a serviceable item.
