2016 140 Ecoboost - Gearbox Issues

Featured Replies

I have a red edition with c.55k on the clock. I’m the second owner and bought with 20k on. Since I’ve owned it, it’s been driven pretty sensibly and I’ve always looked after the box as I know they’re somewhat notorious.

A couple months back, after an MOT, I was driving home and got about two miles and stopped at lights. As I pulled off onto a dual carriageway, I went to shift to second and the shifter went to neutral but I couldn’t actually find any gears. No noise to indicate an issue but I just couldn’t slot into any gears.

Eventually by moving the stick laterally, it eventually freed up the box and I could continue with no issues. A couple weeks passed with no issues but the same thing happened again yesterday, only difference being attempting to get into 3rd from 2nd.

Has anyone had anything similar? Or any suggestions on what this could be?

TIA
