P042f fault code on 1.6 tdci

Featured Replies

Hello, first time focus mk2 owner here and just trying to gather thf best way to go. I've been doing some reading and not sure the best way to proceed

This error has come up and causes an EML, drives ok but I feel could probably be a bit better.

Do I:

1) clean old EGR and put back on

2) buy new valeo EGR and reset values

3) get blanking plug and use a remapper to delete in ECU software

Thanks in advance

1. No

2. Yes, if financially viable.

3. Yes, if number 2 is not financially viable.  (Bearing in mind it is illegal, technically an MOT fail, and will produce more NOx than having a working EGR)
