MK3 reverse camera image upside down

Featured Replies

Hi All

My OEM camera (Focus MK3) was often showing a blank image so I've replaced it with another OEM part.

After literally unplugging and plugging the new camera in, it works fine but the image on the SYNC 3 screen is upside down.

Anyone seen this? Does it seem some kind of software/module reset?

Thanks

You must have bought the Australian spec by accident

But seriously, camera is upside down

It can only be fitted one way round as the harness plug dictates this, and the fixings.

It must be a different revision number, or it is from a different Ford model.

What is the full part number of the original and the replacement ?

It's definitely upside down, so must be the wrong camera

BM5T-19G490-JB both...

Looking at the information on the parts listing, the camera and the camera housing are two parts. Depending on the use it can be fitted in to different frames and either way up.

There were 15 versions of the camera used on a Focus Mk3 during it's production run. It's easy to narrow that down to about 5 once you know if it is a 5 door, 4 door, or estate version.

Yeah... but the harness/wiring that comes to the mounting hole is from the right side, and thus only reaches if you have the camera orientated with the connector on the right hand side.

The plastic housing is wider at the top compared to the bottom so where it clips in to the hole in the car it can only go one way, and the camera can only be mounted in the correct way as there are plastic raised bits that stop you mounting it the other way (even if the wiring reached) 😞

Hi,

Have the exact same problem.

Original Ford system was Sony, replaced with Synch 3, everything had been working fine for 2 years.

The original camera, started to play up intermittently, showing lines or upside down image or black screen. Ordered a replacement from AliExpress, which had an identical part number, just the end was S instead of JC. Installed and now, the camera is working all the time, but the image is upside down.

Have tried looking at Forscan but can't find any options to fix.

Did anyone get this resolved?

Any help appreciated.

That's your problem right there.

So it didn't have an identical part number?

Point taken, but the originally poster had the exact equivalent and still had the same problem.

Also, searching the web, it seems to be a common problem.

A quick web search suggets a replacement camera has to be initialised/calibrated.

I'd try seeing if Forscan offers it for your car.
