MK8 - Very Slow To Get To Temperature

My car temp gauge seems to be taking a long time to get up to temp and as a result the warm air is also taking a long time also.

I know the outside temp is getting cooler but this is taking a lot longer than normal, I have owned the car several years so I am used to how it 'normally' is when driving.

Any ideas?

    If you've got an aux heater, that may not work with low battery charge.

    I'm not sure which Mk8's got them as standard.
