placed my order 22/07/2023 - Dealer advised 3 months, it's past 3 months now and still no sign.  i reached out to dealer 6 weeks ago to be told no change in order status.  I've reached out at least once a week since and she's only responding to questions not related to order status.  I've no idea if I've even be given a build date yet.

is there anyway of getting an update with out going through the dealer.

A family member has a Focus Estate on order a few months now (July or August, tbh not sure).  Was due to be delivered December, but now pushed back to February.   Quite possible your car is built and waiting to be shipped from previous experience (not just with Ford).  Fingers crossed for you it turns up soon!

Got an update a last week, the car is build complete with a delivery date of 23/12/2023, but, they said due to shipping company Woodside's operating hours over the Christmas period it might be pushed back.  was your family members car ordered from NI or England?

i understand there's going to be delays, however the dealership has never once reached out to me, I've always had to chase down updates.  i just spent over £30,000 with them and i'm chasing updates.  when I bought my Sportage from Kia, the sales man phoned me every single Monday with a status update, now most of the time the update was no change in status, but they phoned 09.30 every Monday.  Ford are jokes so far.

Bought here in NI.  I’ve had a few delays with new cars getting shipped here in the past, not just with Ford.  I guess it gets to a stage where they are at the mercy of the shippers, but it’s nice to at least be told we have no update or whatever.

I find dealers are still very hit and miss, though I think often it comes down the individuals. I rang a Ford dealer twice a couple of months ago about ordering a new car for my parents and was told someone would ring me back.  We’ve bought 5 new cars from this place. I’m still waiting on those calls.  They’ve lost two sales out of that as now I am changing too!  The other Ford franchise was very helpful though.  They also phoned dad to advise of the delay.

Its not just Ford though. I visited two Renault showrooms of a certain large group whose name rhymes with Worst last week.  Plenty of cars (and next to no customer parking as a result) but nobody about to sell you one!  All huddled up in their wee offices.  I stayed 15 mins, opening and closing lots of doors, then left!  Is it any wonder more cars are getting bought online?

received a lovely phone call this morning from the Dealership, car ready for collection on Monday.

is there anything I should be checking before accepting it?

Everything.  Bodywork, paint, trim, wheels, interior etc.  If you find any damage later it'll just be your word against theirs as to whether it was delivered that way.

If you think buying from Ford is a joke, you'll want to avoid the aftersales team...

it's the lack of communications, they clearly knew the car was arriving a month early, i was told 23/12/2023 but could be after Christmas, they just let me stew and was kept in the dark.

think i'll be best doing a complete recorded walk around before accepting it.  when i bought my sportage i didn't feel the need to do one, but the guy wouldn't give me the keys until i had walked around the car with him.

fully how these places do things so differently

If concerned about paint try to do it in daylight on a dry day as well.  To be fair my family haven’t had any issues with the six Ford’s we’ve had from new, but maybe we got lucky.  You’d hope they’d check this stuff in the PDI in any case 🙄.

Amazing you are getting it earlier than they thought.  It was probably just stuck in a holding area somewhere on the way from Germany.
