Rough idle

Featured Replies

I’ve got a 2007 mk6 fiesta diesel with a few codes that I’m struggling to solve. Got some codes still remaining after changing the fuel filter and the fuel valve or something.

Car turns on now but it was air locked before putting a new fuel filter in but now on start up it idles rough like it wants to shut out for the first 10-15 seconds with a little bit of smoke (possibly unburnt fuel)

Anyone know where to go from here ?

Fuel pressure regulator is knackered - or the wiring to it.

Radiator fan is also faulty, though that shouldn't affect cold idling.

hiya, really appreciate the reply bud. I believe I’ve had the fuel pressure valve (regulator I think?) changed so it must be an electrical issue somewhere along the lines.

and as for the fan issues, my cooling fan at the front works as normal. Turns off, on etc it’s just when I flick the ac to number two or 1, there’s a whirring noise, sometimes squeaky but on 3 and 4 it’s fine. Surely it can’t still be the front cooling fan ?

Yes, the FPR is a type of valve.  If it's been replaced then it looks like a wiring fault as you say.  Probably need an auto electrician to check the wiring between the FPR and the ECU.

Regarding the fan, it won't be affected by the heater dials inside.  Tbh if it works fine you can probably ignore those fault codes.
