Help upgrading my MK6 fiesta zetec S

Featured Replies

Hello I’m wondering if anyone could tell me some bolt on upgrades for my mk6 zetec s without having todo to much to the internals of the engine? Like intake manifolds/exhausts if you guys know any other things I can put on it would be a great help! Thank you 🙂

Hi Max,

It can be difficult and expensive to get more power from a normally aspirated engine, compared to a turbo. A £250-350 remap on an ecoboost, for example, could get you 30bhp or more, you could spend 3 times that on exhaust/induction for your car to only get 7 or 8.

Pumaspeed, for instance, have a few bits for your car:

Drop a 2.0 ST engine in, but they weren't very fast either

Lol it's all relative I guess - Iirc the Mk 6 Zetec S had a 0-60 around 10 secs, which would have been regarded as pretty quick back when I started driving😀). I never got to drive the 2.0 ST but I seem to recall a group test in one of the mags where it was voted into 3rd place behind a MINI Cooper (not S) and a Suzuki Swift Sport (the n/a 1.6).

Anyway back to the topic - always thought the best point about any Fiesta is the handling, so I'd be more inclined, particularly with a car this age, to ensure tyres, brakes, steering and suspension are spot on, rather than spend on "performance" mods which will be looked on unfavourably by insurers.
