Update from Dealer

Featured Replies

My dealer emailed me today, with good and bad news, the good new is status of the car is "completed Build" now for the bad news, the ETA changed from the 09/12/2023 to 23/12/2023, pushed back two weeks.  might me January before I get it as she claims Woodside's the transport company close for a few weeks over Christmas.

Seeing as it's built and completed, may it be shipped sooner, surely it doesn't take 9 weeks to ship the thing.

Take it you didn't pay extra for next day shipping?

It does take ages to ship as they have to wait for a full train to the port then a full boat to cross the water, then have to wait for road transporters up to your area, which presumably includes another boat crossing. Bit more involved than an Amazon delivery.

Mercedes used to let customers do that!  A friend of a friend went to collect theirs about a decade ago.  They got free transport, hotel and a tour of the factory as well as collecting the car from source.  I doubt they offer it nowadays though.

show up at the factory get arrested. so frustrating , why can't the dealership just be honest when taking the order, told 3 months, now it's going to be closer to 6 months.  are they afraid of not getting the order.

You've answered your own question there.

I was lied to about mine as well.  I never would have ordered it if I'd known the real timescale.  What annoyed me more is that I'd told them I needed one quickly and said I'd prefer a pre-built one but was pretty much forced into the factory order as it was better for the dealership, and as it turned out, detrimental for me.

Looking at other forums at the time it seemed to be standard though.  All bullsh*tting just to make the sale.  I wouldn't trust any dealership now.

Good luck with that. The last package that was sent to me by 24hr tracked took 22 DAYS to reach me!

typical car sales men/women/persons tell you anything on the forecourt.  when I went to look at a new car, I was going to buy second hand until i seen a Youtube video on the face life Focus, but needed a bigger car than the hatchback and fell in love with the ST-Line X Estate in Desert Island Blue, it's the 155ish auto.

so i asked for a test drive, no problem sir, give me 2 minutes and i'll have the car brought out for you.  5 mins later the pull up in the 125 manual hatchback, I refused to take the test drive as it was pointless it wasn't the same car.  the agreed to have the right car ready for me the following Saturday, so turned up with the wife and kids, same thing wrong car, however this time it had the right engine and it was automatic, just wasn't an ST-Line X, didn't have one available and didn't have an Estate to even look at.

So I bought the car by sitting in a showroom ST-Line X to see what the interior is like, and driving a non-stline x with the same engine and gear box.
