Funny they market two different bottles. Do they charge the same price for both I wonder ?

Yes. Absolutely they market Cataclean fir petrol and separately for diesel.

Ask them again just for clear clarification.

told they do it for marketing but its the same product

Yep, it's all marketing!

Recently tried a bottle of Cataclean (and no I didn't drink it) 😃

Have had the dreaded P0420 code come up at random times, sometimes weeks apart.

Anyway, the code didn't come back on while the Cataclean was mixed in the fuel but curiously it re-appeared within a couple of minutes of refuelling. Coincidence perhaps.

I tried Cataclean because of the O2 sensor fault. It did didlysquat. Nada. Nothing. Replacing the O2 sensor was the only way to permanently get rid of the code.

To much BS on tinternet regards Cataclean.

This is what you need to properly clean the cat

Awwwwww that's a gorgeous looking kitten.

so there's no point trying it, i have a 02 sensor fault, had it replaced but engine light still on, turned it off but comes back on after 3rd start, i also have a 02 sensor wiring fault, i have my mot next month, been told by my local garage it could be it needs a new cat ( no cat fault code) or its an engine fault, no running issues and emissions are fine as the garage tested them,

So you've changed an O2 sensor. Pardon my ignorance but dioes your car have 2 O2 sensors? One either side of the cat?

If that's the case which sensor was changed?

In my case it was post cat, the one after the cat.

It may be beneficial to change the other sensor if you have it.

Oh. This has just occurred to me. The sensor you had replaced. Was it with a Genuine Ford one or a copy one? If copy then sorry to tell you they're shyite. They cause more problems needlessly.

it has 4 sensors, it was bank 2 post cat, yes it was after market sensor,

I then suggest whoever fitted the sensor and suggested an after market one never be used again. Buy a genuine one. Bank 2 genuine one cost me £122 (or very near) and Well worth the money.

Your aftermarket one is probably faulty and throwing up code after code.

Things like sensors Need to be replaced with Genuine. Things like bushes etc don't need to be. This comes from mechanics I've known for decades.

I'm surprised your car has 4 sensors. My 1.5 ecoboost has 2.

These 1.6 Ti-VCT's use twin cats with quad lambdas.  That's the trouble with trying to get an old fashioned, non-turbo, 1.6 petrol to meet emissions requirements of the time with the tech available back then.

From past threads on this car, I'm almost certain that it needs the cat replaced.  Expensive & awkward to change on these though.

the codes i have are P0156 and P056

We're these codes obtained by using Forscan or a different scan tool?

If not Forscan then it's recommended that all Ford owners get it. It's the Best after what the dealer uses.

It also tells you the part that's producing the code.

If you've only had one O2 sensor changed then why not the other aswell?

CAT sensors have a tendency to last around 10 years and 80k miles - then usually the heater circuit burns out no amount of cleaner will fix that BUT the CAT clogging up and generally getting old will appreciate a bit of help as will your back and wallet grovelling about trying to fit another one

if you go on aliexpress there's a shop sells genuine NTK CAT sensors direct - they are usually 20 quid each

as for CATACLEAN https://www.tetrosylexpress.com/userfiles/images/files/pdf/CGLCAT001.pdf

not sure why they put twin cats on a 1.6 and tivct to make it 15bhp quicker, just costs a lot more if either of these 2 goes wrong, mine has done 83k so i am expecting the tivct to pack up at anytime as they same 80k thats why i dont want to spend any more money on it
