Strange warning sound

Featured Replies

Just joined and had a quick look to see if this has been covered but cant see anything. Apologies if I have missed it.

I have had my 2017 ST-line for almost a year but just recently, when I start up the car, it makes a sound like a mobile phone starting up and then 3 further notes. There are no warning lights on the dashboard. I can't see anything anywhere to advise what it is. It isn't a phone as it still goes off when it is switched off.

Any ideas?

Do you have an aftermarket dashcam?  They sometimes make odd noises when switching on.

Is it a late Mk7 or early Mk8?  If Mk8, I wonder if there's been a Sync update over WiFi that may have added a start-up noise?

I do have a dash-cam but had it for a while. It's a mk7. Just seems strange that it has just started. Have video and audio of it but they are too big to post

Videos can't be uploaded here directly.  They can be uploaded to a video hosting site (YouTube etc) and linked across.

Thank you for that info. Hopefully this link to my video works.

Dashcam memory card is full and requires reformatting.

My NextBase DashCam makes a very similar sound just on startup, when memory fill, display just flashes a warning message with no sound...

Thanks for that guys.

It is the dash cam. Silent when disconnected but have reformatted and cleared sd card but still makes that noise. It is a Nextbase 322? and I have never liked it. Sometimes connects, sometimes doesn't. Never syncs and always needs date and time updated.

Nextbase is exceptionally sensitive to you using a genuine, branded SD card. I have used 'cheap' ones in mine before and they just make the cam virtually unusable.

Thanks guys - all sorted now, at least for the moment. Was definitely the dash cam do had a play about with it and now seems silent so fingers crossed that is it
