Ford Focus MK3 radio problem

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 61 plate Ford Focus mk3, the radio looks exactly like this one

The speakers started crackling even when the car was turned off. Eventually, the radio stopped working all together. The Ford logo appears but it doesn't move beyond that.

I took it to a local car audio specialist and he said the radio was fried. Apparently it's a design fault, since it's right where the heaters are.

Now I'm wondering if it's sensible to get it replaced. Wouldn't the same thing just happen again eventually?

Furthermore, I don't actually listen to the radio or even CD's. All I really need is the bluetooth working since all my stuff is on my phone.

Are there any simple bluetooth speakers that would be suitable for a car that I could just place in the car and remove when I'm done?

Looking for some advice as I'm not what's the best thing to do here.

Can't say we see many fail on here.  Replacements can be had for around £40 on eBay.

Would think that's cheaper and easier than messing with an aftermarket Bluetooth speaker.

I agree with Tom, just get a replacement on eBay and it's a straight swap.

Hi James. Part of your post made me giggle. Radio fried because its close to the heater. Sorry.

No radio headunit gets fried because its next to the car heating system. The unit just got a jolt of energy and it rolloxed the radios electronics. It happens. No fault of anything particular.

Just replace the unit with one from a scrap car. It's by far the best and cheapest and less of a head uck job for you.

If in doubt how to do it there are plenty YouTube tutorials showing you how. It's really easy.
