Vibration / Shaking

Morning all

recently bought a 15 plate Transit Custom and from about 65mph I get a Vibration / Shaking underneath the engine compartment, doesn’t seem to come through the steering wheel but at times it’s quite bad , it’s ok around town , it doesn’t do it when freewheeling at speed only under load , plus if you dip the clutch it disappears for a short second , any ideas before I start spending unnecessary.
TIA ,

John

Good day.

Rpm?

On a specific gear?

Good morning

its usually at around 70mph in 6th , if you change down or dip the clutch it stops for a couple of seconds, it’s fine around town when your up and down the gears and at lower speeds

Try not to use that gear on those rpm.

Mine did this when there was an issue with the remap. I dont think it is the same issue.

There are many possible causes for this.

Several things could be happening here.. depending on how worn the struts are or even the motor mounts could be worn, Tires out of round, or out of balanced etc. if it has aftermarket wheels, someone could have installed lug centric lugs instead of hub centric. Struts could be going bad or wheel barings.

Hi Jboy.

Did you get this issue resolved?

My 2019 Transit has started to vibrate at around 60 mph.

I have had the wheels balanced and tyres checked but still does it.

Also, there is a low whining noise when under load in all gears.

I took it to a transmission specialist who road tested it and said the noise was strange but couldn't confirm it was the gearbox....even with a second opinion from his colleague.

He recommended to keep driving it and see if anything developed??

I wondered if you managed to get yours sorted out?

Cheers.

Just wanted to add.. this vibration etc could be caused by a bad motor mount.
