Are we under attack??

I've been getting this error for the last hour or so, constant refreshing usually clears it.

I hope someone has a backup of the site! Too much knowledge to lose...

Is that the latest invention out of Martlesham Tom ?

This site being, 'under attack' does concern me. I use to be an active member some years ago on the Toyota Celica GT4 owners web site, at the time it had a wide membership, and had built up years of expertise on keeping those often fragile cars on the road as many approached 20-30 years in age.

Sadly, the member forum had a hostile IT attack, and it simply stopped working, losing every bit of previous history. Although relaunched some months later, it had no history, and was never the same. It was one of the reasons I eventually sold my car as I missed the support.

I have my fingers crossed that times move on, and the security of this site will never suffer the same fate.

That is indeed a very concerning thing. Whilst pointless attacks on sites are almost impossible to stop, it would be hoped that an offline back-up of this site is automatically kept, and that in the event of a catastrophic attack that things could be quickly restored with perhaps only the loss of one or two days worth of data. 🤔

Seems to me the site doesn't have the capacity to allow all the members onto the site at the same time.

You've obviously been able to get on so look at it as a glitch within the site. It probably doesn't have enough memory storage.

As for the site being attacked. I doubt that very much. If it was then nobody would be able to get on it at any time.

It also could be your own Internet provider having issues.

Unlikely diagnosis as other members reported same issue...

I have actually got a little bit of "insider" information from a private message sent to me last week by one of the FOC staff. The site is being attacked, most likely by Bots.

Since the communication was private and I've not asked permission to share it, I don't feel it would be right for me to post it here, sorry.

I don’t really see what anyone would get out of that.. what’s the point of attacking an owners club?

Maybe it’s a rival. 😂

What's the point in any vandalism?

The Motor Factors that I work for was attacked by Russian hackers 2 weeks ago and they were demanding £700,000 worth of bitcoin to leave us alone.

Apparently, someone was charging their phone up on a company desktop computer and clicked on a dodgy WhatsApp link !!

Luckily we had systems in place to get around this (following a previous attack by the Chinese), so we were back up and running 24 hours later but it still cost the company tens of thousands in lost business that day 🤬🤬
