How long does the cig lighter provide power when off? mk3

Featured Replies

Recently had a friend who's car got hit in a tesco car park and his dashcam didn't record as it turns off when his engine is off, my Focus provides power to the dashcam i have even when the car is off which is good for when going into stores etc but my question is how long does it provide power for before cutting off? or if it does provide constant power how long would it take to drain my battery?

Pretty sure my usb Charging via cigarette port shuts off after a few minutes, will test it in a few mins

It's doesn't stay on long the port in the back seats area stays live so would tap to that or a fuse tap. Dash cams use less than 5 watts when recording.

My dashcam has, 'parking mode', this allows it to record an incident even when the power is switched off. Check your manual to see if yours does too..
