Boot wiring

Featured Replies

Hi all,

a bit of a long shot but wondering if anyone would know.

I have this (also the grey connector and white Fakra in the back)

connector in the back of my boot which I’m lead to believe is for the RCM on earlier mk3 focuses.

now I have retrofitted sync 2 I’m looking at adding a reversing camera and wondering if I could splice onto this for 12v power and ground (assuming this is igntion live)

Thanks!

I could be wrong, but that looks very much like the connector for the Ford trailer module.

Ooh.. didn’t even consider that.

assuming I could do the same thing tho?

The ground connection is easy just find any decent bit of metal with a screw or bolt attached.

Since you need an ignition controlled live I would recommend just tapping in to the supply to the rear wiper motor. You will find the motor has 3 wires. (1) Ground (2) Live when ignition is on (3) Live only when the rear wiper is turned on.

Thank you, tapped into the wiper motor (checked it was ignition live first) and all worked well!
