Hydraulic clutch problem

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 1.0 eco boost and the clutch stopped working, the fluid reservoir was close to empty.

the master cylinder appeared to have fluid around it on the pedal side so I replaced it. I’ve bled the system with a pressure bleeder. The fluid was flowing fast and clean, I put about 150ml through it.

still the clutch doesn’t work and the pedal does feel spongy. I’m guessing it’s the slave cylinder?

if there is a fluid leak at the slave cylinder how can I check? Will it drop out somewhere? Is there a way to check it with a bore scope?

Any advice, suggestions other things to check?

thanks

kevin

That is a possibility.

No easy way to check that I know of. It's a gearbox out job as the slave cylinder is located inside of the bell housing. If you have a major fluid leak you might see some weeping out along the bottom of the joint between the engine and gearbox.
