Hissing sound from engine

Featured Replies

Good afternoon,

I have noticed a hissing sound coming from the engine which is more prominent when accelerating. I have checked the hoses but cannot identify any leaks. The sound appears to be coming from a plastic part located on the side of the block (drivers side) which has a crack in it which may be the source. I have no idea what this part is or if this could be causing the sound.

Can anyone please help me identify this part?

Ford Focus Mk3 1.6 TDI 2012

Thanks,

Ben

Cambelt cover.  It is possible there's a noisy tensioner or the belt may be rubbing, but seems more likely that noise is coming from somewhere else.

Thanks for the reply, I'll do some more digging then get a garage to take a look.

The serpentine belt, if it's called Sid 🤣
