Fiesta Zetec S Petrol / Fiesta Zetec S Tdci ?

Featured Replies

Hi just joined hoping to get either MK6 Zetec s pretol or diesel, but im bit unsure on which to go for, as i intend of squeezing as much power out of it as i can, so i would like to tap into your expertise of the fords advantages and disadvantages and which is more powerfull etc etc

much appreciated, Kitch

If you want to squeeze as much power out of it as possible, you should probably go for the perky 1.4 Petrol. The Diesel is economical but that's as far as the pros go on that

lol going to get the diesel remapped though produces a higher bhp only 5-10 more though, but dunno if it will feel much diff the petrol on a remap

No matter how many BHP, Diesels are always going to be sluggish, a Petrol will get-up-and-go whenever you want it to! :)

i disagree , the 2.0 tdci focus is a very very quick car and not sluggish at all !!

and if i were u id go with the 1.6 tdci and chip it , to 115 bhp and 264 nm torque , thts a lot of power for a fezza sized car !!

Well if you had (for example) a 2.0 TD car producing 200BHP and a 2.0 Turbo Petrol car producing 200BHP in a straight line the Petrol would win because Petrols are naturally faster than Diesels, though I agree some diesels are not sluggish. The 1.9 TD in a Peugeot 405 being one of them.

I dont agree with you, just as an example , focus zetec 1.6 petrol does 0-60 in 11.9 secs , focus 1.6 tdci does it in 10.9 .

ford fiesta 1.4 petrol does 0-60 in 12.2 the 1.6 tdci does it in 11.9 , these are both 100 bhp

vw golf 2.0 tdi 170 does 0-60 in 8 secs and the 1.4 tsi 160 does it in 8 also

im sure you will be able to find loads were petrol is quicker than its diesel variant but i think disel is catching up to petrol.

but its down to personal opinion :) if every body thought the same as me , we would all have a ford focus lol :)

The 1.6 TDCI is no slouch I can tell you.

Diesel every time, more reliable, engines are built to a higher standard generally, will do more miles, better fuel economy and a turbo diesel can be just as fast but with the torque that petrols just dont have. admittedly petrol will have faster more responsive acceleration, but only marginally, plus i love the rush of a turbo :D
