Dreaded Rust

Featured Replies

I took my mothers mk2 focus in for new tyres yesterday (kwik fit) the guy went to jack the car up and rust pieces fell from the sill area they wouldn’t change the tyre he said it could be all the way under the plastic trim. is this a common issue with this particular year and model I drive a mk4 and had a few mk3’s and never had any issues with rust

Yes, rusty sills are common on Mk2.

Sills are OK om my 2007 MK2, but I have rust on the nearside front wing. My neighbour also has the same year and model with rust in the identical place.

I find these stickers useful!

My car failed it's MOT 4 months ago because of rust on the rear sill, nothing a few £hundred & a bit of welding didn't solve...

Yea that’s where it is on my mother’s, I gave it a thorough check tonight again and it’s in the same position front and back, the flimsy plastic panel running along underneath has hidden it until it went to get the tyres changed. How it’s been missed when she’s had it in for mot’s is beyond me. Thanks for replying 👍🏻
