EGR actuator?

  • Author

Cheers lads so it called an actuator ?

Would this cause my car to run rough ?

It's the EGR cooler bypass valve.  The EGR itself is electronic.  This part I'd vacuum controlled.

With a cold engine, EGR gas is allowed to 'bypass' the cold coolant in the cooler, preventing EGR gas being excessively cooled before re-entering the cylinders.

As far as I know it's only used briefly after startup so shouldn't affect running for the majority of the time.

Cheers tom That makes sense then ,my car has been running rough when cold with lack of power below 2000 revs until warmed up and white smoke from exhaust .

I can't seem to find this part online anywhere tho

It's not available separately I'm afraid.  Comes as part of the EGR cooler assembly.

I don't know enough about diesel engines to know if it would cause it to run rough.  I'm sure someone on here will know though.

From the diagrams I've seen it doesn't look like the actuator is available as a separate item and the whole unit isn't cheap even as an aftermarket part.

EDIT: Sorry, Tom has already advised
