Looking for a recommendation for a wet & dry vacuum cleaner.

Featured Replies

I think I'm the only person in the country never to have owned such a thing. Primarily I want it to clean the driver seat of my Focus which I'm pretty sure hasn't been properly cleaned since being built. I've used loads of spray foams, and wet wipes, but they don't make much of a difference.

Budget is £80-£100, any suggestions?

I think screw fix have a black Friday sale on about £49.99 I think

Just had a brief look at that cleaner, I'm not sure I've asked about the thing I'm after! I want one that cleans wet, you know, a mixture of detergent/water, then  sucks it all off to leave it squeaky clean. Is this  a 'wet & dry' cleaner?

I've got a Vax upholstery cleaner.  The 'clean' part is disappointing though.  Spray is blotchy and the brushes are too soft.

I always end up getting a nail brush to scrub and just use the machine as a wet vac afterwards.

Sounds more like a carpet/upholstery cleaner.  A wet and dry cleaner is like a normal cleaner but sucks up both wet and dry stuff.  Tbh I find it more effective than the carpet/upholstery cleaners I’ve tried, but that said, it’s been years since I got a new one.  A spray bottle and a brush does everything a dedicated cleaner does for less money IMO.

Yep, as above Screwfix / Toolstation both have good / cheap wet and dry vacs, the old "Henry" type ones. I have one in the garage, can be used with vac bags or without, obviously don't use witha  vac bag if sucking up water, etc! They are very powerful for a little thing too.

Cheers

Think I may have found what I was looking for. Lidl have this on sale soon so will splash out on it, have wanted this type of cleaner for ages, and have now watched a few YouTubes on it, looks easy to use, and effective.

You might have to get from Amazon 🤣

I think that may be an error, or just a standard get out clause on your 'england' leaflet. I get a weekly email of the specific Northern Ireland Lidl leaflet where it is promoted. We'll see on Monday soon enough... OR, more likely, a fairly reasonable photshop job to get me worried 🤣

I’ve been using one with a decent sized tank and strong suction—works great on car carpets and seats, plus it tackles wet messes without any trouble. Long hose helps a lot too.

Great advice, I'll go out and buy one immediately 🤣

Funnily enough I have just bought a wet and dry vac (only to be used wet for me) from Wickes. It cost £55 and I am very pleased with it. It is quite light and powerful, the drum is made of plastic (i.e. won't rust like my last one did...), the on off switch is large and easily accessible on the top of the machine (unlike on my last one), it has a easy to use top carry handle and a reasonably long 4m mains cable.
It'd be better still if it had brackets to hold the cable when looped round the top (when not in use) but one cannot have everything !

Amusing that I stared this thread in November 2023.

Obviously, many folk take an awfully long time making such a decision 🤣

after looking around for ages, and it's been solid. Picks up both pet hair and liquid messes without a hitch. Battery lasts long enough for a full clean, and the mop feature is way better than I expected.

100% pure BS 🤣
