Could this instrument cluster be programmed for my Focus?

Featured Replies

This cluster listed on ebay is apparently from a 2009 1.4 petrol Studio, which was the lowest available spec.

The odometer display looks indentical to my 2005 built 1.6 Petrol LX, with only the trip and total mileage shown in basic digital numbers.

The ebay cluster appears to light up orange, which I think would look better than the standard green.

With the correct equipment, would it be possible to program this cluster to work with my car? Is there anyone on here that could do it?

Does your IC not also show the outside temp ?

I'd advise against changing to an IC from a lesser model or you might find somethings are missing.

Is this one like yours ?  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335123714984

The display on my LX looks like the one in my first post, but with black numbers on a green background.

There is no outside temperature display.

The front clear plastic window on mine is also cracked at the bottom. Does anyone on here by chance have a spare plastic window from a broken cluster unit?  From photos it looks like it could be removed by undoing the plastic clips and swapped over.

Interesting to note that even the description states the Ebay one is exactly for my car, as you can see the LCD display is not the same. Just how many variations of an IC did Ford make! LOL

Parts catalogue lists over 30 variations just for the 4 years of Mk2 pre-facelift!

Generally there are 3 basic types for the LCD screen though - lowline, midline and highline.  The other variations are regarding fuel type and fitted options such as cruise, Nav, etc.

Is it possible to fit a cluster, possibly along with the GEM and engine ECU from a higher spec model? I mean swapping all three as a full matched set?

I would think you would need the control stalk with the reset buttons as well.

Are the wiring looms much different?
