Focus Mk 4.5 Warnings and Issues

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Been running into a list of issues with my Focus recently. All was OK, parked it up in a car park for an hour or so, and when getting back in the car, received a tonne of warnings on the dash:

Hill Start Assist not available

ESC Service required

Pre-Collision Assist not available.

Since, my lane assist has also not been working. ESC light constantly on the dash. Over the past week or so, car has also been going into deep sleep mode and getting battery service warnings on the dash every now and again, with battery light staying on the dash.

Can't get it into any Ford garage nearby, all are 'fully booked for diagnostics.' Any suggestions on what I can do to push this along? They also say they can't provide a courtesy car if it's in overnight, which isn't acceptable - I travel for work and the car is under warranty.

I'm at the point where I almost want to hand the car back to the dealer.

Any advice appreciated.

Charge the battery for 12 hours.

Hi Luke. Which dealer are you on about?

Your car is only a year old and the dealer you bought it from should be looking after you.

In the meantime do as above and charge the 12v battery for 12 hours.

You're in greater Manchester so your in my manner and I know all the Ford dealers here and know which to touch and not touch.

It's the dealer principle you need to be contacting too. A courtesy car must be provided.

So I ended up insisting on a courtesy car via Ford themselves and they got me an appointment at Evans Halshaw with a courtesy car!

Garage have looked, apparently it's a faulty piece of software on the ESC (or maybe ABS..? Can't remember the phone call!) module and that's what was throwing all of the errors.

Apparently battery warnings were also caused by the above, but I have my doubts and I'll leave my battery charging.
