Air conditioner cold only on passenger side - 2011 MK3

Featured Replies

2011 Trend LW Auto MK3 Petrol

I am having an issue where cold air is only coming out on the passenger side (AU right-hand drive).  Air con controls are the manual dial ones with no individual (left-right) climate control.

Not that long ago I had to fix leaky pipes for the heater matrix due to leaks.  I replaced the o-rings but then used 20mm heater hose over the pipe connections to be sure it would not leak again.  I did not remove or undo anything else attached to the heater matrix other than the heater pipes themselves.  I did not have to do anything other than disconnect and reconnect the pipes, yes it meant a bit of pushing the pipes a little to disconnect and reconnect but that was on the engine side not the matrix side.  I am pretty confident this is not the cause, but I cannot be 100% sure.  I had to remove the whole carpet and underlay as it was soaking in the coolant.  Maybe I knocked something doing that, again can't recall doing anything that would cause the issue, but again not 100% sure.  The heater works fine on both sides, it is just a cold air issue.

So I have now removed the plastic surrounds to the shifter, removed the air-con controls, removed the radio, and removed the side covers each side of the foot area that covers the centre console dash.  I have checked and removed the Air cabin filter and other than some dirt it appears to be not clogged in any way, It was replaced only 6 months ago.

There is nothing blocking the two outlets on each side of where the radio goes, i.e. I can put my fingers inside each outlet, and looking inside them it it all looks clear, I cant see any actuator from there.  Before I remove anything else (e.g. little screen above the radio and the rest of the dash and center console, does anyone else have any other suggestions for me to try?  Some have said to do a regas, but is that the real solution, or is there an actuator or lever, fuse, switch etc somewhere else that may cause only the passenger side to have cold air?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

EDIT:  After doing an OBD2 scan I am getting two errors

B112D(15) - status confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear, test not completed during this operational cycle
B1287(15) - Servo motor Potentiometer Airintake left circuit short to ground.

I still have the cabin filter and the centre dash removed, that may be why I am getting the errors?  So will put it back together and retest errors.
