Recoding engine to ecu

Featured Replies

Ok so I've spent a couple of days fitting a replacement engine in my ford transit courier, engine is in and all electrics ok on ignition I have pump whirring but I no crank. I've searched online about coding and I do have forscan but still have no clue how to code the engine to the ecu so does anyone here have any advice or is this a main dealer thing.

No crank would indicate that this is an immobiliser issue. Have you changed the Body Control Module or only the engine ECU ?

It's my original ecu so all keys match  but obviously not coded to the engine as the engine was replaced so trying to ascertain what needs recoding to make it run

Ok, so you need to use FORScan connected with a vLinker FS cable so that you can see what the DTC's are. I expect that there will be codes relating to the immobiliser, and possibility the fuel pump.

Do a full scan of all modules and post a screen shot of the DTC's that you have.

Here are the screenshots of all codes registered, doesn't seem to be anything for fuel pump or imobiliser.

Hi, that's quite a lot of DTC's !!!

Have you tried to clear them all using FORScan ?

The main problem seems to be the PCM and BCM. You could try downloading the "AsBuilt" files for your modules and reloading them.

Pcm is the issue the bcm are just the headlights and indicators not connected yet so not worried, pcm has codes that where up prior to engine change but don't think they stay if fixed do they. If I do an as built rescan will this not only give me the figures for my vin so will I need the vin from the donor van?
